Ved Institute of Performing Arts was established in 2009 with the aim of providing a comprehensive education in the classical dance form of Kathak, encompassing theory and dance instruction.
Currently, the Institute conducts four classes at Prabhadevi, Charni Road and Kandivli every week. In addition, VIPA also conducts three festivals a year: National Solo Dance Competition (from 2017), Vedanjali Dance Festival (from 2017) and an annual show. Our student strength is currently more than 100, with students aged 6 years and above. Our students have participated in Mumbai festivals like Andheri Festival, Mulund Mahotsav, Geet Ramayan, Kala Pradarshan,Natyanjali Mahashivratri Festival, Tarang Festival, International Doctor's Conference, Music and Me dance Festival and national festivals like Pune National Dance Competition, Jabalpur Mahotsav. A select group of students also participated in a Doordarshan awards show.
The Institute is registered with the renowned Gandharava Mahavidyalaya and conducts government-recognized exams for students in Kathak. We also welcome and instruct hobby learners and enthusiasts with the same passion.
In our classes, we train students in the concepts of nritya (interpretative dance) and nritta (pure dance). Our students perform group and solo pieces based on stories from Indian mythology, such as Krishna Leela, Dashavatara, Shiv Shakti to name a few.
The Institute also conducts specially designed introductory sessions and workshops on Kathak in colleges, schools and corporate companies. We have also choreographed group and solo dance presentation in schools like DY Patil International School (Worli), Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra), Learner's Academy (Bandra) and Dhirubhai Ambani International School (Bandra).
